BRACES is a 501-c-3 non profit located in St. Helena Parish, LA.

BRACES service area includes Region IX (the Florida Parishes) of Louisiana and beyond.

BRACES is the lead agency for the Florida Parishes Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (FPVOAD). As part of the Louisiana State VOAD system, partnering with the National VOAD, BRACES works along side many other organizations to ensure that residents who reside within the Florida Parishes needs can be addressed following disasters. Within the Florida Parishes of Louisiana,

BRACES partners with local governing authorities to address the need of homelessness. Working with the HUD sponsored Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, BRACES is able to help people in need of housing.

BRACES sponsors an emergency food and personal care pantry that meets the emergency need of area residents

Following the Haitian earthquake in January 2010, BRACES partnered with several other organizations and agencies to develop strategies and implement plans to help address the immediate and long term needs of the Haitian people.

Following the destructive tornadoes that destroyed literally thousands of people’s homes, businesses, churches, etc throughout the southeast; a local organization, the Benevolent Rural Alliance for Cultural and Environmental Strategies (better known as BRACES), a local 501-c-3 non-profit immediately began reaching out to affected communities in Alabama.

Having experienced the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina/Rita and Gustav/Ike firsthand, BRACES directors fully understood the need for immediate intervention. As a result, BRACES representatives partnering with the Florida Parishes VOAD and other emergency organizations/agencies both in Louisiana and Alabama began aiding survivors whose lives have forever been altered by the storms. Needed items are already being sent into the area. To address the need for monetary assistance, BRACES has partnered with a local Tuscaloosa, Alabama church to distribute gift cards from local Alabama stores currently open for business in affected areas. The cards will enable area residents to purchase medication and other needed items not readily available from other sources. Gift cards are being purchased in the amount of $25.00. All funding received is going directly for this purpose. If you would like to aid BRACES, donations for the Alabama relief outreach can be sent to the Benevolent Rural Alliance for Cultural and Environmental Strategies (BRACES) at P.O. Box 936, Greensburg, LA 70441. Cash donations can also be made via BRACES website: www.braces-la.org . Donors who furnish their names and addresses will receive a receipt.
